Make the Road New York
Photographs taken at the Westchester site of Make the Road New York. They are a nonprofit that offers assistance to immigrants and working class people of color - on so many levels.
That morning, many people were showing up sign a petition for a bill that would improve healthcare access for immigrants. There was a mother who came to collect a check after her employee didn't pay her salary. A single father of 3 daughters told me he's been coming to the organization for years. There was a strong sense of belonging and trust in the space that was very moving for me.
This is an ongoing project to document the work of remarkable nonprofits in Westchester that are committed in bringing about change to their communities. The nonprofits are past award recipients of Impact 100, a women's collective giving organization.
